our mission is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to move forward: living, working, and contributing in their community.

about us

Best Futures, Inc. was formed by a small and passionate group of mothers, sharing a common concern about the future of their special needs children who were growing up and fast becoming teens and young adults. Out of this concern, grew hopes, dreams and a mission, focused on empowering teens and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to move "forward" living, working and contributing in their communities. Best Futures, Inc. began exploring opportunities for providing gainful employment for those with I/DD within an inclusive community setting, directed at building vocational and social skills, instilling a sense of accomplishment and pride, and raising community awareness of the positive contributions those with I/DD can make when opportunities exist. Hopes and dreams became a reality, and the first cup of coffee was served on January 11, 2012 at the Grand Opening of the Best Futures Cafe at Centennial Ice Arena in Highland Park, Illinois, providing gainful employment and abundant pride to a group of extraordinary individuals with I/DD.

Founded in June, 2011, Best Futures, Inc. is an Illinois not-for-profit organization, focused on creating opportunities in the community for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our initial efforts have been directed towards creating opportunities for sustainable, competitive employment.
